Family story

A family business built one project at a time

In 1992, Ziggy, Peter and Voytek founded Star Tuckpointing together. What started with one family working weekends grew into a company serving Chicago and nearby suburbs. All three remain closely involved in the business today.

The company has grown, but the standard set on those early projects has not changed: diagnose the cause, explain the repair and stand behind the work. That growth has come primarily through client referrals and repeat business, earned through honest assessments, careful jobsite safety and craftsmanship designed for Chicago's demanding freeze-thaw cycles.

Meet the family behind the work.

Ziggy Kleszcz

Founder

Ziggy arrived in America from Poland in the early 1980s. Having already run a business back home, starting his own company here was always the dream. After a few years of getting established, he started taking on his own jobs on the weekends, bringing Peter and Voytek along to learn both the hard labor and the business side of the trade. In 1992, the three of them made it official and launched Star Tuckpointing. Ziggy is still involved today, and the standard he set back then hasn't changed a bit: find what's actually wrong, explain it straight, and stand behind the fix.

Voytek Kleszcz

Co-founder

A Ridgewood High School alum (and former soccer player), Voytek went on to earn his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from UIC. But his most practical education happened hands-on, working alongside his dad since the company started in 1992. That rare combination—a tradesman's instinct backed by an engineer's training—is exactly why homeowners with the toughest problems end up talking to Voytek. He is the one who makes sure every job is staffed and finished right.

Peter Kleszcz

Co-founder

Peter went to Lane Tech, studied accounting at UIC, and earned his Master's at Notre Dame. He spent a few years working in the public sector while still helping out with the family business, but eventually realized that running Star Tuckpointing was what he was truly meant to do. Having been on the job sites with his dad and brother since 1992, he has a deep, practical understanding of the work. Today, he handles the estimates, scheduling, and administration. For Peter, the best part of the job is still sitting down with a customer, diagnosing exactly what's going on with their building, and laying out a permanent fix that they can count on.

They'll both tell you the same thing:
the combination of engineering and business is the secret sauce that continues to make Ziggy's passion flourish.
